Store in a cool, dark place away from sunlight to prolong the life of the aroma oils and also to preserve the therapeutic powers of the essential oils.

You need to make sure that your essential oils are always tightly sealed, and that they are in darker glass bottles, removed from a potential heat source. If you stored your essential oils properly, It can be last for years and their quality still the same. But be careful on storing oils which derived from orange, lime or lemon, as they can't last long. It is suggested not to store those oils less than 6 months

On the other hands, patchouli oils is a rare kind oils which its get better as it ages. So basicly, the shelf life of an oils it depends on their properties

"Old" oils should not be used for Therapeutic purposes, but may still be used for fragrance purposes, such as in potpourri.

While Blending Essential Oils different oils in various proportions, you should not mix them up as they are known to get unstable very quickly. Use a different dropper for different oil to avoid cross contamination.

There are no fatty acids in essential oils, which means that you dont have to worry about them becoming susceptible to rancidity, like that which occur in vegetable oils.
