infants congestion

by Kris

My 10 month old son is having congestion, runny nose, and a cough that comes and goes. He is miserable and the doctor says his lungs sound good and that there is no bacterial infection. I think that it may be allergies. To what I am not sure, but there are allergies of all kinds(food as well as environmental like grass and tree pollen) coming from both sides of the family. The pediatrician says it is too early to test for allergies but I don't want to put him on allergy medication from the doctor anyway. I just want to find out what is wrong so I can help him feel better.

Blends Inhalation for cough and colds
by: Liani Widjaja

Hello Kris,

If you already go to a doctor, I believe he would give you some medicine to take for your infant.

I suggest you continue to use the medicine, if somewhat it doesn't cure your infant then go to other doctor to double check and ask for medicine to follow up.

A long lasting coughing might a sign of allergy. A cough associated with colds usually will start to ease up around 1 week to 10 day mark. Though not go entirely away.

Another possibilities of coughing longer than 10 days is sinusitis.

Aromatherapy can't be used in infant directly so I suggest you put a few drops of essential oils in
the water of a humidifier or in a vaporizer to purify the air in a room.

This is the blend for cough and colds but it used in adult.

1 drop benzoin, 2 drops peppermint and 3 drops ravensara.

put these blends in the humidifier or vaporizer to speed up the healing process.

For a start, I suggest to cut the blends into half, cause I'm afraid the scents will too strong for infant.

I usually used 1-4 drops to 1 pint of water.
