I have been asked to advise on the use of essential oils at a childrens hospice

In particular the use of vaporisers and suitable blends to use. There are children with epilepsy and others who need a little stimulation so any advice would be welcome. I am inclined to suggest they use the aromastream vaporiser.

Essential oils for children

It really won't matter what essential oils you use as long as the children enjoy the smells.

There if no documentation that says any particular essential oil has an increase risk of causing seizures.

Any substance known to man could be a potential trigger to certain types of epileptic activity.

Again, unless you know for certain that a particular essential oil will trigger a seizure or epileptic episode you should be able to use any essential oil.

As always you need to make sure the health care providers for the children in your program are aware that you would like to incorporate the use of essential oils.

By the Way, I think this is a wonderful idea.
Children often respond well to happy scents. Start with a few Citrus and light floral.

Oils that might affect epilepsy

I know it was stated that no oils seem to affect epilepsy, but In my soap making years, I have come across 2 people who had reactions to rosemary oil, and it triggered seizures. Just putting it out there. May not on everybody, but something to put in the back of your mind.
