Growing lavender plant

I've heard that you should be careful not to allow the "branches" of adjacent Lavender plants to touch - is that true and if so, do you know why? I wanted to create a denser thicker look.

Hi Kevin,

Your questions is more related to gardening section. I think you better ask someone who is more expert than me.

The only reason might be if you are growing in a very humid climate and are trying to keep air circulation at its best and to allow for mature growth of the plant.

The reason for the spacing between plants is to allow for the plant to reach its fully mature size which usually takes about 3 years. This time
frame depends on how big the plant you planted was. The other reason is to allow for air circulation between the plants so as not to promote fungal diseases which will kill your lavender. Remember too that your plant will
produce long flower stems when it blooms and you need to allow room for these. The closest I would plant some of the smaller dwarf varieties is
about 12 inches if you are doing a hedge row. The larger growing plants definitely need about 18 inches between them.
