The Facts

Though very little clinical research on the effects of essential oils on skin such as sebum production and wrinkle prevention, But there is some data about essential oils and other skin problems such as sunburn and healing wounds.

Most of the aromatherapy practitioner had to rely on anecdotal evidence, personal experience and historic use.

The Recipe

Anti Wrinkle Treatment

Makes 4 ounces

The healing properties of comfrey and witch hazel soothe aging skin, while the Patchouli oil regenerates skin cells and may ward off wrinkles. It also tighten and tones sagging skin.

1/4 cup comfrey infusion
1/4 cup witch hazel
10 drops patchouli essential oil

To make a comfrey infusion, gently crush 1/8 cup comfrey leaves and place in a small bowl. Pour 1/2 cup boiling water over comfrey and cover. Steep 5 to 10 minutes. Strain and cool before using.

Combine 1/4 cup of the infusion with witch hazel and patchouli. Store in a clean bottle. To use, apply to affected areas with a clean cotton ball twice daily.
