What is Hemorrhoids ?

This is a condition where Hemorrhoids or varicose veins of the anus and rectum get enlarged bulging the blood vessels located inside or outside the anus. Theyre caused by increased pressure on the veins from sitting, being constipated or straining too hard to defecate.

Judith Jackson from personal guide to aromatherapy says, "Add 20 drops each of lavender and juniper essential oils to a hot, shallow bath, mixing the bathwater with your hand to make sure the oils are well-dispersed. Then soak for 10 mins"
To make Hemorrhoid Oil for applying externally after a bath, combine 1 ounce Saint-John's-wort oil , 8 drops each essential oils of chamomile, palma rosa and cypress.
If varicose veins break, you can cover them with a cold compress of calendula or Saint-John's-wort with chamomile and carrot seed essential oils. This will decrease the swelling and pain and will deliver healing factors that help repair the veins. ( Reference from : mothernature.com)

Essential oils for Hemorrhoids

Here are some essential oils that can be directly applied or diluted to bath water to help ease the pain caused by hemorrhoids; cypress, peppermint, myrtle and juniper essential oils.

Jeanne Rose, an aromatherapy specialist and herbalist in San Francisco, California, suggested the usage of topical administration of Melaleuca quinquenervia viridiflora, also known as MQV, dubbed to be the True Niaouli. This essential oil has a scent similar to tea tree but is less potent.

Sitz bath is done to aid people who are sufferings from problems in the lower abdomen. Few of these cases are hemorrhoids, kidney infection, bladder infection, difficult menstruation and even infertility.

Generally, all Sitz bath preparation must be relatively hot (tolerable) since it increases blood circulation that makes it ideal for aiding people with constipation. We called it hot if the temperature of the bath water greater than body temperature.

But a hot Sitz bath is not ideal for people with hemorrhoids; Other than those recommended treatment above you can try the following suggestion:

Use 5-6 of the myrtle or cypress essential oils, add honey and then pour into bath water, mix well.

Apply it with Balm

This herbal balm will soothe and have an astringent action on hemorrhoids and other varicosities. This balm supports healthy venous function when applied externally.
