Cleaning oil burners and Soapstone
by: Penny Keay

Hi Jason,
First if possible and if you still have the operating instructions for cleaning your burners you should follow them.

Otherwise, Simply using hot soapy water is all you need to do.

Tealight candles used as the source of heat for many burners including soapstone ones can leave a soot residue on the underside of the bowls. This usually is an indication that the wick may be too long or the tealight candle is too hot.

These same reasons can cause your oil burner to allow the scents you are diffusing to become actually burned in the bottom of the diffusers bowl. Try using low melt tealight candles made from soy or palm oil rather than parafin ones that burn extremely hot.
