Basic bath salt recipe

I am interested in making bath salts and was curious if it is better to use essentials oils or fragrance oils. Is there a basic bath salt recipe that one can follow to add just the oil? Thanks.

Hi Gail,

Both oil are ok. I use essential oils, if i need relaxation and have a cold, because essential oils added another useful to the bath salt itself, while the fragrance don't. instead fragrance oil has many variety, just mention musk, apple, etc. so I said you judge what's best for you.

one tip buying fragrance oil that make sure it is safe for skin. fragrance oil for candle and potpourri usually not safe for skin, you better ask the company before buy it.

Here is the basic bath salts recipe that I used:

1 cup epsom salt, 1 cup Sea Salt,
10 to 20 drops eo or fragrance oil,
10 drops food coloring.

How to make:

put 2 cup salt and food coloring in large bowl and blend well. add oil litle at the time until you met the scent you desire. blend well before you put in a glass and tight closely. shake well every day usually for a week.

How to use:

take 1/4 cup to the running warm water and enjoy!
