Aromatherapy Neck Wraps

How to make your own aromatherapy neck wraps and using it at the comfort of your house.

An aromatherapy wrap is not only a spa luxury but also a comfort to many, used for relaxation, to eliminate headaches and migraines, soothe sore muscles.

They can be found at many retail stores or online and can even be made by hand.

Aromatherapy neck wraps are used not only to help a person to go to sleep, but can also be used to relieve tension in the neck and upper shoulder and back area.

To make aromatherapy wraps, a person needs to simply make a neck pillow that has two different compartment bags. One is used to protect a person's neck from the heat and is usually made of flannel, polar fleece or any other thicker fabric. The other bag is filled with beans, buckwheat, dry rice or flax seed and then aromatherapy essential oils are added to it.

Any pleasing aromatherapy essential oil will do depending on the person and what works best for them. The aromatherapy neck wrap can then be popped in the microwave at 30 second intervals to warm it up but to keep the filling from becoming "cooked" or start to smell. It can also be spritzed with water before being warmed or can even placed in the freezer.

Simple aromatherapy neck wraps at your home

You will need:

  • 2 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 2 drops Bergamot essential oil
  • 1 drop peppermint essential oil
  • 2 Cups hot water


Mix together. While still warm, soak a soft cloth, flannel is best, in the water and wring it out. Wrap it around the neck. Cover with a towel to hold in the heat.Remove before it becomes cold. Repeat as desired.

Heat therapy encourages circulation and helps ease lower back & arthritic pain, muscle tension and stress. Cold therapy helps ease headaches and aids in reducing swelling associated with sports injuries and an active lifestyle.
