Depression is a medical condition that is characterized by a sense of pessimism influenced by stressors or extreme negative emotional states leading to a change in one’s mental and emotional state.

Common symptom of depression is reduced appetite resulting in weight loss or increased appetite resulting in weight gain. Some people may even experience headaches, constipation and general aches and pains.

Depression is an e condition induced by extreme negative emotions and experiences so anyone can acquire this psychological difficulty. This condition is remedied through a series of therapies and so is curable. The diagnosis of depression is usually confused with other conditions as the symptoms manifesting is similar to those of other conditions.

There are lots of alternative medicines out there that you can use to relieve and also prevent your depression, and aromatherapy is one of the alternative therapies to solve the problems.

Essential oils for depression.

There are a lot essential oils for depression but mostly people will use : immortelle, geranium, frankincensen , lavender, lemon, orange, jasmine, vetiver, rosemary and ylang ylang.

Recommend essential oils are
  • Immortelle (Helichrysum angustifolia) is a good essential oil in suppressing fears including anxiety and phobia inducing relaxation. It is also perfect for aiding in recovery from depression.
  • Rose Otto is an essential oil with a noted quality that negates emotions like grievance and melancholy due of loss of a loved one. It induces a feeling of positivity and warmth that is much needed for this life event.
  • Sandalwood is an essential oil effective for calming obsessive impulses or behavioral problem.

A synergy blend that can be used for depression is composed of a drop of Rose otto and Sandaldwood and then 2 drops of immortelle.

How to use it

Vaporize, bath, perfume and body massage. For body massage you can add 15 ml of sunflower oil. An aromatic bath two to three times per week is especially helpful for depression.

Caution

The above treatment is used only for mild depression. If you suffer from chronic depression please seek a professional help from doctor.
