1. How to make a scented Christmas greeting card

This card is easy to make. It has a beautiful design and perfect for you to spread holiday cheer to your friends and families!

Here's what you'll need:

  • Card stock: white, green, red, goldenrod
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Small brass "Merry Christmas" stencil
  • Dish towel
  • Embossing stylus
  • White opaque marker
  • Craft punch: swirl, star, circle
  • 17 inches red ribbon, 1/4 inch wide
  • Paper glue pen

To Make a Tree Card:

  1. Cut white card stock to 11x51/2 inches; fold in half to final card size of 51/2 inches square.
  2. Cut a green 4x11/8-inch rectangle and a red 37/8x1-inch rectangle.
  3. Lay Merry Christmas stencil reverse-reading on top of a folded dish towel; center and place red paper rectangle on top of stencil.
  4. Gently rub paper surface with embossing tool to create raised letters. Turn paper over, and trace over letters with white opaque marker.
  5. Center red rectangle on top of Merry Christmas stencil.Then, rub with embossing tool.

  6. Punch out 10 green swirls. Punch a gold star and 3 red circles. Copy and cut out pattern from the red pot template. Download the template here.
  7. Arrange swirls in a triangle tree shape on card, and place circles on tree and star at top of tree. Place pot below tree. Place green rectangle at bottom; center red rectangle on top. With glue pen, glue paper pieces in place.
  8. Cut ribbon in half. Glue 1 length of ribbon along side of card, folding ends over to inside. Make a bow with other length, and glue it to top of ribbon

To Scent the card :

Simply place 2 drops of essential oil (or blend of oils) onto a piece of blotting paper or cotton wool balls, then place in a self sealing plastic bag with the card that you want to fragrance. Seal and leave for 48 hours. When you remove the card it will be delicately fragrance.

  • Frankincense and Myrrh

2. Make your own Christmas potpourri

Materials:

  • Dried apple slices
  • Rose hips
  • Star anise
  • Cloves
  • Juniper berries
  • Sweet-gum seed balls and bark
  • Pine needles
  • Red peppers
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Oak moss
  • Assorted seed balls and pods
  • Fixative of your choice
  • 5 parts of chamomile oil
  • 3 parts of spruce oil
  • 2 parts of citronella oil

For oil you can choose essential oil or fragrance oil.

Instructions:

  1. Dry the materials above.( From dried apple slice to assorted seed balls and pods)
  2. After they all dried completely, mix them together
  3. For each cup of potpourri, sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of powdered fixative over the dry materials
  4. Add the oils to potpourri. Be sure to add a few drops only, you can add more oils later if the scent is too weak.
  5. Mix the potpourri well with wooden spoon and place the potpourri in a brown paper bag. Shake well and roll up the bag tightly to expel the air. Place in dark location
  6. Shake the bag once for a week then shake once a week for five weeks.
  7. Remove the potpourri from the bag and place it in a container.

Some ideas to use this blend :

You can make votive candle using this blend. You are welcome to replace the essential oils with fragrance oils. Use green color and red color in it. If you want to make it as a gift. Place 6 of them in box. 3 red candles and 3 green candles. Tie it up with a bow and a card on it. That would be a perfect gift for your neighbor and friends.

Otherwise you can place them around the house. Put them together red and green candle with some decoration. There you'll have a Christmas decoration.
